La 7ème rencontre annuelle des membres du Réseau international des chaires UNESCO en communication (ORBICOM) a eu lieu à Lima, au Pérou, les 8, 9 et 10 mai 2018, à l’invitation de la Chaire Unesco en communication et culture de la paix de l’Université de Lima.
Sous le thème Communication, ville et espace public, le réseau ORBICOM et la Chaire Unesco en communication et culture de la paix ont réuni près de 130 conférenciers venus de tous les coins de la planète et quelques 950 participants.
RECONSIDERATION OF CULTURAL-HISTORICAL VALUE OF CENTRAL PUBLIC SPACE OF SOFIA BY MEANS OF COMMUNICATION

An abstract: The paper analyses the transformation and reconsideration of central public space in the capital city of Bulgaria, Sofia – one of the oldest cities in Europe. The research thesis is that the time of globalization, of turbulent social and economic changes and dynamic development of technologies heightens the importance of preserving the identity and the cultural and historical values of urban public spaces, by resorting to effective forms of public communication.
Using case studies as methodology, the paper explores the thematic and semantic change of the purposes, functions and use of historically established central public space from 1878 until now a day.
As effective channels for communication when considering the cultural and historical value of public spaces are suggested: development and public discussion of a City Constitution; Creating a historical dossier and passport for every important public space; Using communication techniques such as verbally presented stories about Sofia’s cultural and historical heritage; Using new technologies – virtual reality, augmented reality and hypothetical reconstruction, so as to obtain a tangible idea of the meaning and value of the public spaces in different periods of their development.
